10. Remain honest in your dealings
Honesty is deep rooted with being confident about yourself and a sense of security. Taking the long road demands patience, hard work and yes, honestly. When you reap results, they are long lasting, you get confidence from the fact that you came all the way on your own. The happiness that stems from confidence and resilience is long lasting.
9. Sleep Right
We are becoming a sleep deprived nation. What happened to the good old saying of ‘early to bed and early to rise’? Owe this menace to our insanely fast paced lives that keep on taking up speed by the day. Sleep early to remain alert and focused through the day and keep off frustration. There’s nothing like a good night’s sleep to keep you active and rejuvenated. Wake up to the world with a smile!
8. Have a healthy meal
That’s why your momma urged you to finish up all the broccoli in your plate. A balanced and nutritious diet goes a long way in giving you a healthy, fit body. Try it and when you’re eating the right stuff, you will feel an instant change in yourself. The reasons are self explanatory!

7. Exercise
It’s the best way to meditate. Whether you are exercising to lose weight or maintain it, it has tremendous positive effect on the mind and body. Stretch up all those lazy muscles, tone up those abs, and by the time the season is over, you’ll fit in all the outfits you loved wearing! Well, that’s just one aspect of it. Make a habit of taking a brisk walk every day. Nothing beats getting fresh air! I personally enjoy walking a lot. It gives me time to think over lots of things, spend some quality time with myself with no interruption. Soul searching is a very important activity for me and walks give me just that!

6. You can’t please every body
… So please don’t even try that. Being considerate about others is a good thing but be careful not to go overboard with it. If you remain frustrated with it too long, chances are you’ll end up keeping more people unhappy. Give yourself a break! You need time to recharge in order to take care of others as well. If they still seem unhappy, then just stick with my you-can’t-please-everybody clause.

5. Cultivate interests – Grow
Do things that interest you. Are you a good sketcher? Practice more. Are you a good writer? Experiment more. Are you fond of reading? Don’t hesitate in picking a book on a topic alien to you. Do you like to travel? What are you waiting for? Pack your bags and off you go. This life is too short to spend waiting for an indefinite time for an indefinite something. Do what inspires you, you will feel much happier.

4. Help others
Nothing beats that feeling! If you want to be genuinely happy, help someone who needs your help. Even a few words of support can mean a world to someone. Offer a helping hand to someone, lend an ear to a disturbed friend, be there for someone. You will feel fuller and wonderful.

3. Don’t take that pill!
Sometimes you need to feel the pain. There’s no point in resorting to antidepressants and sedatives. Not only are we the nation’s most sleep deprived generation but also the one consuming most medication. The best way to deal with a rough time is to deal with it. It doesn’t get any simpler than that and by far, that’s the best way I know of keeping it under control. Don’t become dependent on painkillers and drugs for a little piece of happiness. You’re stronger than that, baby! Didn’t your momma tell you too much medication isn’t good for you?

2. Accept the things you cannot change
We all have the tendency of becoming control freaks. Where does that take us? Tension, anxiety, stress, pressure. Should I add more? Insomnia, strain, worrying, an endless list. Strive for the best, aim for the high, but don’t fret yourself into constantly trying to make things go your way. Wisdom lies in accepting your limits and understanding the fact that there will always be some things you can’t change. So relax. Take a deep breath. Don’t stress. It’s gonna be just fine.

1. Choose to be happy
The most important factor in being happy is to choose to be happy. Be positive and the good will find you, always.
